As the creative director and brand designer for Nuba’s rebranding, I aimed to craft a visual identity that authentically reflects the brand’s dedication to sustainable, natural, and cruelty-free skincare solutions tailored for people of color, including children. Rooted in African-Sudanese culture, Nuba celebrates femininity and cultural heritage, and it was essential that the rebrand encapsulated these core values.
The rebranding strategy centered on integrating cultural motifs from the Nuban people, particularly the distinct markings that Nuban women adorn to symbolize femininity through various life stages. By artfully incorporating these tribal markings into the Nuba logo, the brand’s identity forms a strong visual narrative connecting it to its cultural roots.
The rebranding of Nuba stands as a beacon of cultural pride and natural beauty, deeply intertwining the heritage of the Nuban people with a global audience. This project reinforced the importance of culturally conscious design, demonstrating how thoughtful branding can honor roots while appealing to a diverse, modern market.
